In medieval times, the Ultima Thule was a term for those lands north of the known world. Even today, America’s northernmost public lands throughout Alaska are unknown even to many of the residents of the state itself. The Ultima Thule: Journeys in America’s Northernmost Lands, A Web Anthology, supports awareness and protection of America’s northernmost public lands in Alaska.
Even if you may never travel to the Arctic yourself, we invite and encourage you to visit the Alaskan Arctic along with our contributors in the written word, photos and video on our Journeys page. Check back often for more stories and share with friends and family. The more we know the stories of the Arctic, the better informed we are in making decisions which will affect our world.
